Phase II of Smart ED coming in Oct 2011
Hello Electric Drive Smart Car Lovers,
Existing news from smartusa….The Electric Drive (ED) all electric smart car is coming to America October 2011 as Phase II.
Let me explain, Phase I was conducted over in Europe and was extremely successful. Phase II will include nine major cities in the USA with 250 ED’s available to rent with a 4 year lease at $599/month.
Here are the cities that will kick-off Phase II next October, 2011:
1) Austin, TX
2) Los Angeles, CA
3) Sacramento, CA
4) San Francisco/San Jose, CA
5) New York City, NY
6) Orlando, FL
7) Detroit, MI
8) Washington, D.C.
9) Redmond, WA
Then Phase III, full production will kick-off in October, 2012 across America, I believe smart centers will be taking reservation in the future for the all electric smart fortwo. Details have not been announced yet.
So If you are lucky to live in the above 9 cities, how can you get your hands on one…..good question and I’m not sure…Smart believes about 80% of the Phase II ED’s will be leased by business that have garages where re-charging stations can be outfitted and will use the ED’s during the day and recharge at night. I would contact the local smart centers and inquire how you can be a pioneer in getting the ED’s on the road.
Here are a few quick facts about the Electric Drive smart fortwo:
1) Has a top speed of 60mph and a range of 82 miles per full charge.
2) Time range is 4-5 hours going at average city speeds.
2) It has 16.5 kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack.
3) The motor maxes out at 30 kilowatts, or about 40 horsepower.
4) At 220 volts, the onboard 3.3 kilowatt charger can bring the battery from zero to 100 percent charge in about eight hours.
5) It can conduct a 20 percent to 80 percent charge in about three and half hours.
6) Finally, with a regular 110-volt outlet, will need 14 hours to charge from zero to full.
7) The ED can accelerate as fast as its gas-powered version, going 0 to 40 mph in 6.5 seconds.
Ok, More details to follow, but image the possibilities of driving a full electric smart fortwo and never needing to fuel up on gasoline.

Smart Value Days aka 1.9% Financing !!

Holy Smokes Smart Car Lovers….
I just went to the smart car company website at: www.smartusa.com and discovered smart is conducting Smart Value Days now through the end of the year with a very attractive financing offer at 1.9%!!
I thought my 4.2% was good, but how much lower can they go??
Hey, maybe smart can help pull our economy out of its recession and lower our dependency on foreign oil all at the same time….
Maybe it’s your time to “Make a Statement”….
